Scott Schmidt, 67, of Willmar, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at his home. His memorial service will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 21, at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar with visitation two hours prior to the service.
Scott Michael Schmidt was born February 16, 1955, in Austin, Minnesota, to Ruben and Audrey (Whipple) Schmidt. He grew up in Lansing, Minnesota. On September 28, 1974, he married the love of his life LuAnn Webber in Brownsdale, MN. They made their home in Owatonna until 1994, when they moved to Willmar. In Willmar, he worked at JMD manufacturing, where he made parts for the International Space Station. After his retirement in 2017, he worked at Willmar Bus Service, driving special needs students.
While living in Owatonna, Scott was an avid softball player. He also enjoyed attending auctions, collecting coins and stamps, and watching sporting events. He was a very sociable person and would talk to people he didn't even know. Scott was a very involved with his kids and grandkids and never missed an event for either. He coached his kids’ sports teams and served as a scout leader. He was always willing to watch his grandchildren no matter what.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years: LuAnn; three sons: Chris (Megan) Schmidt of Mondovi, WI, Adam (Kristin) Schmidt of Willmar, MN, and Bo Schmidt (Mary Arends) of New London, MN; eleven grandchildren: Dakota, Preston, C.J., Reese, Markus, Sara (Frank), Amanda, George, Addison, Toby, and Josie; and ten great-grandchildren: Selena, Cecilia, Malyk, Gionni, Brantley, Armani, Adele, Arely, Frank Jr., and Allen. Also surviving are two sisters: Anne (Greg) Klingerman and Jane (Mike) Swanson; a sister-in-law: Trudie (Poncho) Cruz; a brother-in-law: Doug (Sandy) Webber; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Elaine and Richard Webber; his stepfather-in-law: Harvey Fjerstad; a brother-in-law: Dick Webber; a sister-in-law: Bev Webber; a grandson; and a great-grandson.
